Matt Sniderman

On a trip to Turkey 10 years ago, Matt Sniderman tried a foot-kick wheel while on a tour of a pottery and instantly fell in love with the craft that comes from our ancient past.  Immediately upon returning to Toronto, he found lessons at Harbourfront Centre, walking distance from his work.  He continued classes at the studio until Deborah, the resident instructor, left to another space in the west end where he continued to improve his skills.  A few years ago, Matt discovered The Potter’s Studio and wanted to become a member so started taking classes here.

He loves working with his hands and moulding the basic raw element of clay into a beautiful functional and unique piece of art.  Matt's friends and family are the inspiration for what he creates -- he is constantly being asked to make something new, like coffee pour-overs or experimenting with hand-building mezuzah cases and signs.  He was recently humbled and honoured with having an art piece in the Book of Remembrance published this year for his High Holy Days.  Matt can’t wait to keep creating and share his work with our community.

The following pieces are examples of Matt's art and are not for sale online.
