Mary Anne Degilio has always loved and appreciated pottery. But actually getting her hands dirty started in 2005 with a Toronto Board of Education course. She was totally smitten. She moved on to classes at The Potter’s Studio where she later became a member. Working with clay -- at the wheel, hand building or using plaster moulds to create large pieces – puts her in a Zen mode. It’s good for her soul.
Mary Anne loves all aspects of potting. The possibility to create is infinite. Her very favourite part is combining colours to enhance various shapes, sizes and functionalities. She loves experimenting with glazes, always searching for the Holy Grail of colour combinations! She makes both functional and non-functional ware. Her work is often playful and quirky – every piece is different.
At some point, she may find that perfect glaze combination and make a complete dinner set for a very eclectic household….or maybe not….it actually doesn’t really matter.
